Why people do not read books ?
Nowadays, people read fewer and fewer books. Fortunately, there are still writers who can intrigue the reader. Many are choosing simpler solution, such as watching a movie, or reading summaries. It is not good ,because people stop thinking and developing. Next reason is that children are not encouraged from an early age. In some families parents do not read their children or read to little or uninteresting items. School shows above all the classics which, in most cases, are difficult, boring and not modern. Especially young people do not want to read ,because they are taking the example of their friends and think that reading is not cool. Another problem is money .Really good books are usually expensive .Not everybody has enough money to afford the expense. Nowadays, we have a lot of modern devices so we are not looking for something more.

Three incredible places you may have never heard of

Three incredible places you may have never heard of

A tropical paradise on Brazil’s northern coast
Desert sand dunes meet crystal blue lagoons in Jericoacoara, a small fishing village located more than 300km west of Fortaleza. Better known in wind and kite surfing circles, Parisian Victor Matei described the isolated hamlet spot as a place where “time disappeared”, saying that it was the most beautiful setting he’d ever visited.

A sky-high Colombian sanctuary
In the town of Ipiales, Colombia, near the southern border with Ecuador, a Gothic cathedral called Las Lajas Sanctuary floats 100m above a gorge in the Guáitara River. In the 18th Century, the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared on the stone gorge wall and cured a young girl and an older man of blindness. Today, that holy wall forms the back of the cathedral, where people still make the pilgrimage to pray for healing and take in the incredible vista.

The Empty Quarter of Abu Dhabi

The emptiness of this region – the largest sand desert in the world stretching across Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. The sand is soft, fine, multicolored hues of khaki and orange, and it rolls in windswept hills hundreds of feet high as far as the eye can see, unbroken by tree or shrub or the rarest of clouds. In spite of its name, the Empty Quarter has a few camel farms. Qasr al Sarab, the only resort for hundreds of kilometres, regularly hosts the Sheikh of the UAE in a luxury villa and also has one of the most spectacular pools in the world.

#WeAreAllMonkeys!

#WeAreAllMonkeys!

As we all know, Dani Alves is the best in contemporary football. He plays for Barcelona. A few weeks ago, his team was playing against Villareal. Match had started horribly for Barca, because in 55th minute they were losing 0-2. Then Alves’ got ball in right corner to take cross from corner kick. While he was preparing to kick the ball, one of the Villareal’s fans threw banana under his legs. Most of dark-skinned players would get angry, but not him. He surprised everybody, when he just got this banana and ate that. After that accident, during match his two crosses were ‘assists’ in Villareal’s players own goals. Match ended with result 3-2 for Barcelona.

After game, Dani asked about situation, thanked that fan, who had thrown banana on ground, because that gave him energy to take nice crosses and helped team to win. Dani’s friend from team – Neymar on his Instagram shared photo, where he is eating banana with signature: “#SayNoToRacism! #WeAreAllMonkeys!” and started a new campaign against racism in football.
This idea was picked up by the greatest football player, who are against racism too.
For example, Robert Lewandowski, Samuel Eto’o, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Philipe Coutinho, Sergio Aguero, Luis Suarez, Hulk, Fred, Oscar, David Luiz and many, many more.
UEFA supported this campaign on his official page on Twitter.
Let’s hope that this situation will reduce racism in upcoming World Cup in Brazil to minimum.

Want to learn quicker? Use your body

Waving your arms, wriggling your fingers and striding around a room
can help you learn faster, says Colin Barras. How does it work?

Body and mind
This theory suggests, that what goes on in our minds stems from our
actions with the world around us. It means that encouraging children
to think and learn in an abstract way might make lessons harder for
them to understand and remember. Spencer Kelly, a psychologist at
Colgate University in Hamilton, found evidence that it is easier to
understand something when people use arm and hand movements to
emphasise points. Studies show that young children learn more if their
teacher uses gestures when explaining a concept. Meanwhile, Susan
Wagner Cook, a psychologist at the University of Iowa in Iowa City,
has found that children pick up new concepts more effectively, if they
are taught to mirror and repeat the gestures their teacher uses, and
that lessons involving words and gestures live longer in a student's
memory than lessons using words alone.

The Ruins of Gorlan

Ruins of Gorlan is the first novel of Ranger’s Apprentice series. It has been written by John Flanagan, Australian author. The fictional world of Ranger’s Apprenticeis is exactly the same as in The Brotherband, his other series. That lets every fascinated reader to stay in this world for a longer time.

The World in Ranger’s Apprentice series is similar to middleage Europe. Araluen is a country, where main plot starts. King Duncan is very popular and respectable. Only one person wants to depose him - Morgarath, lord of the bleak, barren Mountains of Rain and Night. His rebellion was strangled fifteen years ago and he was exciled.
The plot starts in one of the most important fieves – Redmont. Young boy named Will is an orphan and lives in an orphanage with other children. The idea to take care of children came from Arald, Baron of fief Redmont. When kids like he are fifteen years old there comes a special day called Choosing Day, when every child becomes an apprentice to a craftmaster.
Although Will’s first choice was Battle school, he becomes apprenticed to Halt as the Rangers. Rangers are the intelligent group of the country and specialize in long range weapons and the art of staying unseen. Will is trained in these skills as he prepares for the annual Ranger meeting called the Gathering, which is where his skills will be tested. At the Gathering the Rangers receive a report that the Kalkara, vicious creatures under the control of Morgarath, have killed important Araluen figures.
Halt and Gilan leave to track down the Kalkara while Will is riding for help. Baron Arald and sir Rodney head out to slay the beasts. They manage to kill one, but are badly injured by the second one. Suddenly, the last Kalkara is killed by Will’s flaming arrow that burns it because of its flammable fur. Will is considered to be a hero and receives his bronze oakleaf medal which identifies him as a Ranger’s Apprentice.

The Ruins of Gorlan is one of the best books I have even read. It is very interesting and engrossing. The plot is coherent and riveting. Every fan of fantasy or adventure books will be delighted by entering this world.

As far as I am concerned I can recommend this book to everybody, who is looking for good and fascinating novel. If you want to experience many adventures with great characters, this is a book for you.

MODERN PIN UP GIRL

Some time ago my English teacher has told me about very interesting competition “The Fashion Book”. After reading a regulations I though that taking part in it could be a new experience in my education because it connects widely understood photography and an opportunity of showing English skills by describing  a photo which has been done before. The contest concerned  fashion in XIX or XX century. Since I'm in love with the English, I decided to sacrifice some of my free time and   transform in pin up girl. One of my classmates, Szymon Stolarz, is interested in taking photos so we've gone to a photo session. We have had a lot of fun during meeting including some 'onlookers' who seemed very surprised with my costume. Below I place 5 contest photos and description of one of these. I hope you’ll enjoy it!

MODERN PIN UP GIRL
To begin with, I would like to say a few words about style chosen by me. Pin up is a term that refers to lots of trends and outfits coming from 40’ and 50’ of the 20th century. It was of course reserved for women who were gladly observed and admired by the remaining part of the society. It is also worth mentioning that for men the view of happy beautiful girls going down the street or laying on the beach wasn't sufficient. They wanted to observe them as long as possible so pin up girls started to appear on plenty of easily available posters. As far as I'm concerned, they were wearing skimpy tempting outfits containing lots of recognizable features, for instance floral dresses, strips, bows or cherries. Nowadays, girls very often refer to previous valuable patterns.  As Coco Chanel used to say - "Fashion passes, style remains". It means that over the years fashion has changed but women still return to past centuries and derive the most significant elements from them. The most characteristic marks of residue of similar style are outstanding makeup and twisted hairstyle. We have an opportunity to see these features on today’s pin up girls.
The contest picture presents a young woman who is at least 16 years old. I guess the photo was taken on a vast field because of plenty of various plants surrounding her.

The girl is being slightly bent backwards, sitting at the same time on the ground with crossed legs. In both hands she is holding an old glistening metallic camera out of which is protruding a piece of film tape. It looks like she's trying to focus on an object which she has just perceived in the distance. Maybe there was something interesting that she paid attention to. I think that this girl wants to capture the fleeting moment, which, from now, will always remain in her memory.

The woman has long, dark blond hair tied in a ponytail, falling over her narrow shoulders along the waist. One strand of her hair is being dispelled by the soft wind. We can also notice a navy cotton patterned bandana being wrapped around her head. There is a sharp but refined makeup on her face which can be noticed by the viewers. The makeup includes red lips and black lines on the eyelids which are being dimly visible because of squinted eye. Large stately earrings with brown border and white convex material located in the middle cause that the woman looks fashionable.

The girl shown in the photo is wearing tucked checked shirt with rolled up sleeves and unfastened upper button. The colors of upper part of clothes perfectly fit to burgundy sports shoes with rubber soles and white laces. Jeans shorts are being worn on a thin dark tights containing lots of holes. Aside from that she has also several brown bracelets and white wristwatch on her left hand.
On the left side we can see a wicker basket. It’s hard to say what exactly is inside it but I think it may be some old magazines or single pieces of paper. It’s also possible to notice a flowery napkin protruding from the basket and fragment of stripped material which is being hidden behind the one of the newspapers. In front of the basket there is a beige leather bag with suspenders and long strap lying on the ground. On the handbag there is a drafty bright flowery dress which is gently touching the tufts of grass.
In the background there is an impressive sky on which we can notice barely visible slight clouds. Clear blue tint of the sky is contrasting with strong yellow color of rape which is being located below. Because of an open composition, I suppose that the colza is occupying a large area. Between the sky and picturesque rape we can observe some trees or, really, just a couple of green brown spots resembling these plants. In the lower part, among the long grass, single dandelions are so eye-catchy that they are hard not to be noticed.

In my opinion, the picture gives a positive impression as it transfers nearness and value of the nature as well as it shows us the idea of spending our free time in a different way than every day. Furthermore, it is worth mentioning the wide range of colors and other artistic values like calmness, harmony or ambient lighting.

Eurovision 2014

On Saturday, 10th May there was the 59th annual of Eurovision Song Contest. It was in Copenhagen, Denmark. The shows were presented by Lise Rønne, Nikolaj Koppel and Pilou Asbæk.

http://i2.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article2849495.ece/alternates/s2197/Eurovision-Song-Contest-2014-MAIN.jpg

In final, there were participating 26 countries, including Poland, Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Norway and Italy.

http://www.eurovision.tv/save-files/resizes/53/64/f1/d1/db/6e/a6/68/b9/48/4d/15/00/4b/28/c0/SH_F_startfinal-19.jpg

Poland was represented by Cleo and Donatan with song “My Słowianie”. They were in the half of the way to get the award. I think that was one of the best Polish performance I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, they didn’t win the Eurovision. Australia did. It was represented by Conchita Wurst with song “Rise like a Phoenix”. Second prize won The Netherlands, represented by The Common Linetts with song “Calm after the storm”. The third place took Sanna Nielsen from Sweden. She was singing “Undo”.

http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article9350024.ece/alternates/w620/eurovision10v2v3.jpg

Conchita is controversial. Drag queen with beard? That’s a novelty in show business. But I don’t understand people that say she shouldn’t win. Why? Because she’s eccentric? It’s not important! It’s her lifestyle. Everybody can look how he wants. We have to grade the song, not the look.

DNA: the 'smartest' molecule in existence?

DNA: the 'smartest' molecule in existence?

DNA is a macromolecular organic compound belonging to the group of nucleic acids. It acts as the carrier of genetic information of living organisms, including human, of course. The publication of its structure on the 25th of April 1953 was vital to understanding how it achieves this task with such startling efficiency.
In fact, it's hard to think of another molecule that performs so many intelligent functions so effortlessly. So what is it that makes DNA so smart?
DNA as a carrier of genetic information contains the information about the structure of all proteins, and specifically with the sequence of amino acids constituting them, which form the body. Recording amino acid sequence is defined as the genetic code. This code consists of four types of nucleotides that differ among them the presence of a suitable base. Reading the code takes place in a continuous manner, are subsequently recognized nucleotide triplets. Between these threes coded so there is no gap caused by mutations such as falling out of one nucleotide sequence causes a read error.
It's the super-smart structure that makes this easy. The 'rungs' of the DNA ladder are made from one of four nitrogen-based molecules, commonly known as A, T, G and C. These form complementary pairs - A always joins with T and G always joins with C.
DNA is one of the longest molecules in the natural world. You possess enough DNA, stretched out in a line, to reach from here to the sun and back more than 300 times. It is located in the nucleus, may be more than 2 meters in length. There are specific proteins, around which DNA is wound, reducing its length until 10,000 times.
Scientists are reporting evidence that c DNA has the  ability to recognize similarities in other DNA strands from a distance. Somehow they are able to identify one another, and the tiny bits of genetic material tend to congregate with similar DNA. This recognition effect may help recombination of genes, which is a process responsible for DNA repair, evolution, and genetic diversity. The new findings may also shed light on ways to avoid recombination errors, which are factors in cancer, aging, and other health issues.

Goodbye, David Moyes

                                             Goodbye, David Moyes

Time to say goodbye to David Moyes – Manchester United coach. He was sacked from  job after only 11 months. Current season of English Premier League in the implementation of Manchester United has been  the worst for 20 years. After leading the club for many years coach - Sir Alex Ferguson, who coached the team for over 25 years, "The Red Devils" has ceased the club to be top league and became the league ordinary club. Still the current champion of England under the leadership of David Moyes has won 17 matches in the league, drew 6 and lost until 11 and ranks 7th in the Premier League. They have no chance to play in UEFA Champions League next season. The match, which was deciding  to dismiss the coach of Manchester United, was the last duel with Everton, former club of ... David Moyes.

David Moyes – the former coach of Manchester United (photo from: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27130111)

Who will be the next coach of United?
By the end of the season the temporary coach of the team from Old Trafford will be Ryan Giggs - legend of the club, who despite 40 years continues to be an active player. The new coach will be known only after the World Championships in Brazil this year, but the media has already begun to speculate who might take over the reins at the club with the red part of Manchester.  The supporters’  favorite is  German coach of Borussia Dortmund - Juergen Klopp, who would also like to see the owners of the club from Old Trafford in the team. Media signalizes Louis van Gaal  - coach of the Netherlands, as a future coach of the team Manchester United.  Among the candidates there are also listed Jose Mourinho (now Chelsea), Pep Guardiola (FC Bayern München), Diego Simeone - Atletico Madrid coach and Carlo Ancelotti from   Real Madrid.

All candidates to coaching Manchester United

Who will be the new coach of"The Red Devils" ? It doesn't matter, the most important is that the club from Old Trafford again began being the best team in the world, because his fans deserve it.

How to bake cookies that recipe is only known by 3 people in the world?
Pastéis de Belém because we are talking about them, are the most popular Portuguese cookies, which date back to the eighteenth century.Their recipe created monks from the Monastery of Jeronimos in Belem a district of Lisbon. At that time the monasteries produce large quantities of eggs, because the proteins were needed to production port wine or starching habits.
To avoid waste the yolks, they were used to make sweet desserts and biscuits - this is economic approach! The original recipe was purchased by the clever Brazilian from unemployed baker. To the present day we use this provision.
If you want to be the fourth person who knows the recipe… Let’s go!

Live longer

Live longer

Nowadays, on streets we can find more and more people, who are livinglonger than 100 years! What's the secret? What could we do, if we wantto live as long as these people?
First of all - a moderate diet. Maybe it's obvious, but not everyoneremembers about it. We should eat a lot of vegetables, fruits and lesssweets, meat (it also must be, only not too much). On our healthaffect also a lifestyle, care of our teeth, sleep, air etc. You canbeing born to parents who themselves lived long lives, anyway theserules are very helpful for everyone.
On the other hand, the rise in centenarians (people over the age of100) can’t be explained by genetics alone. The reasons include betterhealthcare, improving medical treatments, public health measures likecleaner water and air, better education, and improved standards ofliving such as houses that are warm and dry.
People still think: why do we age at all? Answer isn't easy, butwe can partly explain it. “Every day we suffer damage and don’tperfectly repair it,” says James Vaupel, “and this accumulation ofunrepaired damage is what causes age-related disease”.
For the end: worldwide, the number of centenarians predicted toincrease 10-fold between 2010 and 2050.

Not enough colors?

Not enough colors?

General we all live in grey and vapid places where on the walls there are old and boring wallpapers or not fresh colors of paint. And I am asking You WHY?  The world is so beautiful !!!! Why we can't see it?

Look around us, there is so much beauty everywhere! So many wonderful and intense colors. Look out through the window. There is spring. The sun is shining so beautifully. The nature has already woken up, every smallest leaf has already blossomed. Now it's time for us, we have to wake up too. We should look amazingly just like nature. Wear colorful clothes and enjoy the fashion. We should dress in such a way that when we're walking through the street,we can walk proudly and confidently. Not like a small mouse but like a big tiger !!! We all should be specific. We have to live the fullness of life. We shouldn't only be sitting by computer but go out. Enjoy the weather with our friends or meet some new people. Isn't it better than wasting time at home just sitting?? So come on people, let's move and enjoy our beautifull life !!!!

3)Why is Game of Thrones so popular?

It was a risk to build the series around a mythical world like a cracked-mirror reflection of medieval Europe... This kind of graphic naughtiness got the attention of a large audience – and by the end of its third season Game of Thrones was attracting 5m viewers a week. But blood and breasts alone don’t explain why the show became a social media phenomenon. This is because Game of Thrones, for all its grimness and brutality, represents a return of old-fashioned escapism. The Ukraine crisis

The Ukraine crisis

http://previous.presstv.ir/photo/20140315/354772_Ukraine-West.jpg

The Crimean crisis is an international crisis principally involving Russia and Ukraine. Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's decision last November to pull out of an association deal with the EU sparked huge street protests which  eventually led to his downfall.
Most developments apply to the Crimean Peninsula, formerly region of Ukraine composed of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and separate municipality of Sevastopol; both are populated by an ethnic Russian majority and a minority of both ethnic Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars.
Moscow (AFP) - Russia has refused to budge from its seemingly imminent annexation of Crimea, defying Western pressure at the UN Security Council, as Ukraine's ousted president prepared to make his first public appearance.
When President Vladimir Putin signed a treaty annexing Crimea to great fanfare in the Kremlin and anger in the West, a trusted lieutenant was making his way to Asia to shore up ties with Russia's eastern allies. Putin has been warning the U.S. and other North Atlantic Treaty Organization states for at least six years not to impede Russian interests in Ukraine, particularly in Crimea.
US President Barack Obama and his European allies are urging Russia to call its troops in Crimea back to their barracks and launch immediate negotiations with the new Ukrainian leadership, which Putin claims took power in an "unconstitutional coup". Obama also threatened to target major sectors of the economy if Russia moved on areas of Ukraine beyond the Black Sea peninsula.
Poland has decided to speed up its tender for a missile defense system, the Defence Ministry said, in a sign of Warsaw's disquiet over the tension between neighboring Ukraine and Russia. Poland has played a key part in brokering a peace deal between the Government and opposition in Kiev, and then driven the West's response when the agreement fell apart and Russia seized the strategic Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea.
Last events in Kiev are fearful - since 22 years Ukraine as an independent state have not experience such a violence.
